Dishwasher Attachment
New construction home with a cheap ass job of securing the dishwasher. Its the second time now the glue they used has failed. There is nothing on the back, topside of the dishwasher to keep it from rocking and loading the attachment points.
Tips on a stronger adhesive solution are appreciated. I would rather not have to drill into the countertop (don’t even know if that is a feasible option). ![]() ![]()

Should be screwed into the granite. My granite contractor used to install inserts, now they run a metal bracket across the top that can accept trapping screws.
Looks like you have wood cabinets on both sides, many dishwashers offer a side mounting option. If you post make/model, or pull it out further and post a pic of the side of DW. The (epoxied) anchor bar needs a larger foot-print. --use a longer wider bar. Clean the granite well before affixing.

This is what we have. Works great. If you can't get it between the cabinet and the countertop you can bend it down on both ends and screw it into the side of the cabinet.

Easiest way is to fix it at the bottom. It is likely moving too much. Most have floor brackets you can use already built in. They are pretty rigid and accept a substantial lag bolt that will hold it in place just fine. Make sure it is well anchored at the floor mounts ...it is easier to drill floor/tile (if not already done). you can also use the adjusters at floor to raise to make fit at top tighter. If it has floor mounts and you do that well, you typically will not need the anchor bar.

Thanks for the tips.
I’m going to try the side mount method first, I can use 2 fastener locations on the left side. The gap on the right is too wide for side mounting.

I would add a block, and use both sides.
Level, square, and make sure door closes evenly will keep it from leaking.

Just in case you have to go the epoxy route... PC-7 and a slightly bigger surface area on the bracket.
I have used PC-7 to glue rocks and manufactured rock climbing holds to concrete overpasses... back in my rebellious youth days. (If we couldn’t get out to a climbing area on a week day...why not make our own place on some free vertical CalTrans concrete) Mixes like JB weld but thicker. VERY VERY STRONG bond with pretty minimal contact area. Heavy objects should be taped in place while the epoxy cures for 24 hours. Commonly available at smaller hardware stores like ACE or True Value etc. |

I was coming in here to suggest this after seeing the thread title. It seems I was a little off in my assumption, carry on.
![]() On topic, when we remodeled and put in stone tops the counter top guy mounted the dishwasher to the side cabinets at the top.

Counterclockwise?

I would mount it as high up as possible because that is where you pull on the handle. Mount it at the bottom and the leverage will pull out the bottom mounts.
I used blocks on the side as my opening was too large as well. Used trim to cover up the opening.

Ended up going the PC-7 route.
I picked up some bar stock and JB welded the stock brackets to the bar stock. ![]() Then used the impressively thick PC-7 to attach the bar stock to the countertop. 24hr cure at 70F. Plastic grocery bags were perfect to prevent the clamps from sticking. Thanks for the tips all. ![]()

Yeah, me too. My dishwasher's attachments take batteries.

Hopefully that will hold. The countertop is particle board and if you notice on the original brackets, the adhesive held fine, it was the particle board that crumbled. A few 1” screws would help ensure the larger bracket stays in place

Oh, wow, the underside is particle board ? (good eye)
Well, with enough 'foot print' it will hold fine. --it looks like he has enough.

The countertop is not particle board, its granite.

Oh...I stand corrected, sorry about that!
I blew up the pictures and what I now guess is construction adhesive looked just like partial board. Anyway, construction adhesive is about the worst bond to use. Hopefully, you found a better adhesive.

You can anchor that machine to the floor. You’ll need a fancy right angle drill.

Or put in the dishwasher for fit, mark the holes, pull the dishwasher out and drill the tile with any drill, put the dishwasher back and use a socket wrench to put in the lag bolts.
