I'm a Mac guy, but in Microsoft's defense, the reason they don't ship with a proper DVD player is because of the schitstorm of anti-trust lawsuits they faced. VLC player is the way to go.

Thanks Por_sha, but this is just a simple non-internet connected player on the shelf.
Simple stuff. I put disk in and it plays. I push button it stops.
I'm not translating the C+ bios over to Java and re-soldering the board or whatever and neither should grandma.
I push button. Get movie.

I'm sure the program works but $85 for a two year subscription?
And I wouldn't even own the program after fixing a major OEM flaw/virus?
Couldn't do that.
I don't lease cars except for rentals. I buy to own and then they are mine to do what I want.

From their website the following was not correct: "If you play back the copy on a Blu-ray player with a Cinavia detector, the movie will be muted after about twenty minutes."
The disks and packaging materials look OEM perfect.
Unless our city government library is involved in some kind if high level pirating scheme, the DVDs are genuine, and there should be no problem right from the box.

TheDVDs should play but they don't. That's all I know.

Unless you know what to look for, you probably couldn't tell the difference between the real deal and a (good) counterfeit DVD/BRD.

Doesn't have to be anything nefarious on the part of the library. I am sure they are not buying these brand new from big-box retail stores.
So, they could have easily purchased a pirated copy (unknowingly) on the secondary market, or had one donated.

Curious if you tried to cycle through the different audio modes during playback, and/or play with the audio selection choices in the settings menu?

Interesting idea.
It occurred during normal default play but I'll experiment with various menu sound options.

I have tried using their special procedures to 'unlock' and allow for play Cinavia Messages: Message Code 3 but have been unsuccessful in the past.
