Thanks Drcoastline, the crisis part of this flood is over, now its the long slog of recovery.
I'm very looking forward to heading to Kauai for a couple of weeks in June to hang with our younger son. And hopefully help getting the pool cleaned up and back in action. And what ever else can be done at that time.

Its interesting how one local is really messed up and others basically unscathed.
Our place came thru very well, if we could just get to it.

Cheers Richard

Living at the New Jersey shore I deal with floods and clean up on a regular basis. If you need a hand let me know.

New Jersey shore, yowza, you folks have been thru it repetedly over resent years, whew. You too must shake your head when you hear guys here prattle on about no climate change.
Thank for the offer, I'll give you a shout if I need advice.

Cheers Richard

It's just a part of life when you live next to the ocean. The tide comes in, the tide goes out. You clean up the mess that's left behind.

Sandy was a freak storm. Climate change? Maybe or maybe the stars aligned for that one. Fortunately for us at the last minute (literally) it turned North and made land fall in Northern New Jersey.

I can't say Nor'easter Jonas in 2016 was all that bad as storms go for us here at the shore. Despite the news reports. The problem here was it was January. When the flood water came in it froze. When the water tried to recede at low tide the ice clogged the outfall lines trapping the water. When the tide came back in six hours later it was twice as high. It also froze trapping more water. We went through two tide cycles like this. So in about twenty four hours it was over and the unfrozen water receded. However everything was covered in several feet of ice that you couldn't get rid of.
