Eyeglasses online

Who can recommend an online glasses webstore?

Just started wearing glasses again last year and need a second pair. My doctors office has rediculous prices for a pair and i see prices less than half online.

I use glassesusa.com. Prices are very good but not all offerings are first rate. Their return policy is tops.

I buy all mine here, about a quarter (or more) the cost of store bought:

I presume you have the prescription from your Dr.?
You will also need pupillary distance (PD)
Don't want to be captain obvious but you have to get all those number exact or you will literally be getting a headache.
You can get PD rulers but I just put on a a pair of glasses, got close up to a mirror, and made a small dot over my pupils with a sharpie (then cleaned glasses with alcohol) and measured that..
You will also want to take a metric ruler and measure your head to know what fits and what doesn't. Once you have those numbers you will be able to use them in the future.
I typically get glasses for around $50 from these guys.

I used WarbyParker a year or so ago. Very happy with the process. I had a selection of frames shipped to my house to try on and decide. Sent the collection back a week later - I believe it was something like 2 day shipping for free. I uploaded my prescription (from my optometrist) and had my completed glasses in a few days.

I use glassesusa.com as well.

I broke my "working" part of glasses last week - three years of use. I also have a pair I wear to meeting with clients, dinners, etc.

Three year is a long time so I went to an eye doc this morning and went through the series of eye tests, including dilation. I then looked over the choices for eye glasses, wrote down the size and type I liked and plan on ordering tomorrow after my wife and I go through my choices.

Easy day.

My current pair is no longer made or I would do the same thing. I also do prescription sunglasses.

With your new frames, go onto Amazon and buy a second (and third?) set of identical frames. When the first pair breaks, install the old lenses into the new frames. Works great for those of us with prescriptions that don't hardly change (mine barely changed in 15 years).

Alternatively, if you can find an old school office, they can make your old lenses fit a pair of new frames. Did this when I was a kid quite often. Problem is finding an office that still does their own stuff.

My buddy is an Opthamologist. He recommended (and I used) Zenni.

Great experience.
