My Uncle Dick from Port Angeles, WA fed a family of five and bragged he never bought meat in his life. Fish, deer, Elk, etc. He is notable as he led the way to have 2 dams removed from the Elwha River; so salmon could spawn again:

Aunt Marie, his widow, still lives in the house today (Don't know why he painted it that bright green). I started going to the house as a small kid in the early 1950's and was there last week.

Uncle Dick was my mothers brother. He passed of Alzheimer's at age 83 in 2015. My mother, same thing at age 87 a year ago....
