Recommend a Blu-ray player?

Couple years back my Sony Blu-ray died and I was in a rush so just shot by a Best Buy and grabbed a $80 Samsung and now it is starting to mess up.

Budget is around $100-$200,

Pretty sure they all have HDMI output, WIFI, don't need 3D or 4K but they also all seem to have that. Just want something that will last more than two years.

The Sony UBP- X800 has great reviews. Retail about 240.00. Have seen them on sale
on Amazon for about 180.00 or so.

No not recently, I thought Sony's were the only BR that needed software updates? It has been working for +2 years without any software updates.

It is randomly dropping scenes (grey static)

I got one at Costco for $30. I'm not sure what more money gets you.

for the most part agree. Once you get the past basic specs I think you are mostly splitting hairs for most.

I bought the one at Costco that has the built in Roku/ wifi. You can watch Youtube, Netflix, Amazon, etc. Great if you don't have a smart TV.
