A tornado/microburst hit my house

My son called to tell me that there are trees down at home. I heard on the radio on my way, that a tornado was spotted in a nearby town. There were trees down everywhere on my way home.
My roof is destroyed, and looks like there is a big branch sticking out of the roof of our 5 th wheel camper.
I was planning on a nice relaxing Birthday weekend. Looks like I better get my chains sharpened . I've got 4 decent sized trees down http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1525385401.jpg

That's a nice place you have there, Fred. Sorry to hear about the damage. I handle a lot of first party property damage insurance claims. PM me if you want any guidance on working with the insurance company.

Oh, Mannn. Hell of a way to spend a birthday. At least nobody hurt.

So you saw Stormy Daniels?

Bob Kontak 05-03-2018 02:52 PM

When did this hit? We had bizarre winds late in the day on Tuesday in Akron.

Nice place.
Hmm. You visit Stormy and a storm visits you. She's going to be in my area in a couple of weeks. I think I'll pass on her.

Ouch. No hint of tornados today.

Oddly overcast (meaning it looked odd) with sun peeking in and out. More out than in. Big dumps of rain but for only a few minutes with lightening.

High temps had to drive it.

I was at the shop , looking over a clients GT3, when the skies turned black, and it started to rain gangbusters . The power went out for a bit , then it was sunny again.
It only lasted about 10 minutes.

More like Stormy Damage ! You must have angered the Gods !

Good thing no one was injured, and nothing destroyed.

pete3799 05-03-2018 05:16 PM

That sucks Fred (maybe blows is the correct term). Hopefully insurance will cover it.
We had a bunch of trees down all around town Monday but it was from heavy wet snow.

Baz 05-03-2018 05:21 PM

I wish I was closer. I would bring my Echo chainsaw and some spare chains and we go to it, Fred.

Glad no one was injured - that's the important thing, of course.

Happy Birthday!!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

Same thing happened here about 1 PM. I'm about 100 miles west of you. It was probably the same weather front.
Enjoy your birthday! Those trees aren't going anywhere!

ETA: Great minds, WD... I had not read your post when I typed that.

An angry mother nature is a ***** ! Glad no one was hurt and good luck with the clean up .

fastfredracing 05-04-2018 05:21 AM

Thanks for the compliments on our place, and advice It is a humble little ranch house on 3 acres, but it is paid for , and I love it here. No plans on going anywhere till retirement .
I like chainsawing anyhow, and just put together a bigger husky saw over the winter, that I am dying to try out.
I would assume that I should probably not touch anything till the insurance adjuster comes out.
We filed the claim this am.

legion 05-04-2018 05:45 AM

You are allowed to make temporary repairs to prevent further damage prior to the adjuster arriving.

For example, if you need to nail a tarp down on the roof.

rfuerst911sc 05-04-2018 05:47 AM

If you haven't already done so I'd get that RV roof covered with a tarp . Wet RV roofs/walls are a pain to deal with and the repairs can get quickly out of hand .
