Google Duplex - OK, this stuff is getting scary
https://ai.googleblog.com/2018/05/duplex-ai-system-for-natural-conversation.html
Listen to the restaurant call in the link above. I had no idea AI was this far advanced and that synthetic voices could sound so real. MUCH better than Indian call centers! The ramifications for this are huge. As long as my alter-AI-ego doesn't mess with my wife or motorbikes, I'm fine with it. |
Damn.. scary.. I thought the haircut one was more real...
|
I tried out the early beta version at a chinese restaurant:
"Hello. I'd like the generals chicken lunch special for pickup please. The name is John." "AND?" "And two spring rolls" "AND?" "That will be all. Thank you" "PHONE NUMBER" "It is 555-1212" "OK 15 MINUTE" (click) |
they both seem a bit bland to me..
both voices were spoken with to much consistency in the rythm, to fast, not needing much time to process what's told to them like a real person and responding to the human in almost exactly the same time after the human spoke.. machine like; there is hardly any pause in there. no stop words, no uhms ahhs eerrr sounds rehearsed, produced and filtered |

What's scary to me is how much information they have about a person to enable AI to make these calls seem practical.

All staged at the presentation, I dont think it will work that smooth.
Anyways, people getting lonelier and cutting interaction with other people more and more. Noone needs this tech and I dont think it will be used much. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USXoINPEhoA |
This will be my solution to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dceyy0cX6J4 (its getting interesting at 6:00 in)
