How long cone on dog’s head?

Vet says 10-14days. I don’t remember it taking more than 4-5 days for spay wound to heal.

12-15 inches should be long enough.

Unless it's a great dane. You could maybe go smaller if it was a chihuahua.

That does sound like a long time to me, but I can't say for sure.

Oh no....not the "cone of shame"! Me...I'd probably leave it on for a week....and then remove it while I was around the dog and observe how she behaves. Maybe putting it back on if leaving unattended....just a thought.
There is no "exactly right" right answer imo...it just depends on the dawg

Just had the mutt spayed, we were told the same thing. So we're going to leave it on the full 14 days. She'll get over it. Had it done Tuesday, took the cone off for a while yesterday, but once she tried licking the suture, the cone went back on. Also supposed to keep her calm for the first week, she keeps bringing the throw toy, but I have to tell her no until she's healed a little more.

I'm not flexible enough to lick my hip.

But it seems Seahawk is.

Two Yoopers sitting in a bar see a dog in the corner licking his jewels.

One guys says, I wish I could do that.

Other guy says, Yeah but I bet he'd bite cha.

(Don't forget to catch my last show in the lounge tonight!)

Had a friend whose dog got to her stitches from spay surgery and it turned it to an expensive emergency vet visit.

My advice - don't let your feelings interfere with what's best for your pup.

We don't like that e-collar > they don't like it.

Leave it on.

Cumbersome yes but most pups adjust accordingly. You can take it off periodically for meal time and to do bidness - then back on afterwards.

Do ya know why dawgs do that?

'cause they can!

I'm on after you CB...don't use all the good ones...err, doesn't really matter....mine are no good

Definitely keep 'em inactive for two weeks, but as I said before, not ALL dawgs will mess with the sutures. I would absolutely take no chances, but use good judgement, supervision and unshame one that did not....but that's just me....YMMV.

If the dog can lick it's butt then follow the vet's advice. Our English bull dogs never had one they can't get back that far!

Stick with the Vet's advice. Yes, there are more ways to approach any problem, with many solutions. In this case your Vet has an approach that should make your pooch happy again, so trust him/her.
