What is this irrigation part?
 

As per my “ancient sprinkler system” adventure,

Here’s the culprit upstream of my valves.
There was a tee off of the supply line (pvc) underground and this was in the tee, facing straight down into the dirt. It failed and was just shooting water through the little hole and making a mess about a foot under the grass.

It says “moody” so I know it’s a sprinkler part I guess.

Is it a check valve or pressure release or pressure regulator or something? Weird that it was just buried in the dirt a foot underground.
