Beyond tragic

My home town. A young lady the day before her high school graduation, driving her mother's Mazda Miata hits an open manhole in the road and loses her life.

That is tragic freak accident that could have been prevented :-(

Now the blame game is in process...

Tragic for sure.

I just wonder how many cars would flip upside down from dropping a wheel in a manhole. I would GUESS that most would rip the wheel from the chassis or some other major crash. I would never have guessed any car could flip from that. I sure would not want to be a test driver in a car dropping a wheel in a manhole.

Sad situation. Why is it never some low life criminal that it happens to?

that sucks!!

and is my nightmare. i am not entirely sure how that manhole cover was skewed like that. they tend to want to fall flat.

one time, not work related, i came across something similar. an electrical vault lid, split in the middle and was dangerous to walkers and bikers. blind hill for the cyclist. i called elec company and stood there for two freaking hours till they showed up. then they stood there until parts arrived.

i came back that evening to suss it out.

I would have called the city too, I'm not going to lose a finger or two messing around with something that's not mine.

I don't see how this is the contractor's fault unless it was his truck that skewed the manhole cover and he just left it that way knowingly and didn't say anything about it.

You don't shoot the messenger.

Maybe it sent her out of control and then she hit a curb or something and flipped.
