That's a dream.

I was sanctioned to contend at twelve in that race. I had a Rambler American. Pretty slow but I finished.

If I recall, although 173 laps down, it was a GT 40 that took the flag.

Of course, every kid in the neighborhood wanted one of these in 68. Only the Doctor's kid down the street got one. The rest of us sort of built our own.

Thanks for this, Herr Oberst. This one stands out to me to best evoke the vibe of that era.....

Not sure what you are talking about, (perhaps the brown acid that became infamous at woodstock found it's way to you a year early?) Anyway, Porsche won Daytona, but Ford won Le Mans.

Perhaps you should tune in to the CNN special , You might learn something ??
If I discerned that you showed a scintela of intelligence I would not be calling you stupid. I lived it dummy. In 67 I was in downtown Detroit when the riot started. In 65 LA when Watts burned. 92 LA. again.

At our mid morning break on the day mlk was shot I told a friend that he would be killed. RFK I watched it on happen on TV.

And I don't need to listen to some clap trap Liberal revisionist history.

Let's see, 1968, hmmm. I was in college, was dating a really cute little blonde gal and had a 1952 Ford two door sedan with a 289 Mustang engine installed. Was involved in some local politics and part of a team that entered a racing bathtub in a race held on the college campus for a few years. The next year I graduated, joined the Navy (Seabee) to see the world (and keep from being drafted!) and wound up losing the cute little blonde to another guy who managed to dodge the draft and stay home! Que sera, sera!

The fact that has to be taken into account is that the true debt of the USA has to include the SS unfunded liability as those funds collected in payroll taxes for SS were used for decades (1968 to 2010) to fund day to day government spending. You have put the Hamburgers you ate for decades on the credit card of SS accounts payable. Now you have to pay the bill it is coming due with Trillion $$$ deficit spending...BEND OVER.

This is why I started drawing my SS just as soon as possible, in my case at 62. So far, I have drawn out about what I "contributed" and am now working on the interest! If it goes bust later, that will be some millennial's problem. I basically agree with Tabs, we the collective United States are likely headed for hell in a handbasket! The good news is that I probably won't be alive to have to deal with it! My son and his family will, but each generation has it's own set of dilemmas to work through.

So, I had to look up who Eddy Merckx was. That happened huh? I wonder why Tabs didn't list it.

Yeah, blondes are my kryptonite as well.
What Battalion were you with? My Dad actually was Comshaw Friends with Chief Smith, who was CUCM Smith when I was his OIC in 83. Small world. By the Way, 1968 was the year that the Marines mortared the Seabees at Marble Mountain.

Ahhh 1968 I remember it well. I had just figured out how to stop crapping in my pants and in a toilet. It was a good year for a 2 year old.

The late 60's were the darkest time in US society. We are still dealing with the negative effects.
