I tried Sonny's for 1st time a few months back - fast, reasonable $$, and great BBQ.

So out of all the crazy things that happened in 68, this is what made the year-end cover of Life mag. Probably about right in most people's mind. Flying to the moon overshadowed all else. War, riots, and political assassinations were certainly nothing new in world history.

A good slow beat. A little melancholy. I'll give it an 85.

Everybody is a critic. Being a "little melancholy" is a reason to knock a song? Does being a good song count for anything? How bout poignancy?

I guess I only recall the good music. I do not remember so much elevator music in the top 10. “Love is Blue?” You gotta be kidding.

Freshman year in HS in 68....'Love is Blue' was a big song. The girls loved it!

The fact that there are 6 or 7 GREAT songs in that list though, that I still have in rotation on the ipod, now, that's something.

I mean, it's Archie Bell & the Drells, not The Archies! I really love listening to Tighten Up! It's funk-a-licious!

I have no idea why this thread has me so captivated. I was only a sprout, but I knew all around me stuff was happening!!

Here's some more 1968 trivia:

Syd Barret left Pink Floyd in '68 due to his deteriorating mental health.

I read today that 3 of the last 4 presidents graduated in 1968, Bush (Yale), Clinton (Georgetown) and Trump (Penn). Quite a year.

I lost my father to a brain tumor in 1968. He was only 48. I was 14. So grateful for the years I did have with him. Miss you Dad!

1968. Oh man... what a transition I made. Graduated from HS as a solid "C" student. No future ahead.
Back then when a young man finished HS, He left home. True story. I did. It was normal growing pains.
I didn't want to sleep on top of hay bails in a commune, teaching goats how to whistle, so I joined the service for four years.

That year was the most important period of time for young adults.

I could talk for hours on 1968's impact for all of us that remember.
