Knife question
 

Here are some of my dads knifes. I’ve always had a pocket knife and hunting knife, but my good knifes are ones my dad generally gave to me. I really don’t know if any of these are anything special.

Are any of these worth much or should be put away? I have more, but this is a start.

I’ll give the Boy Scout knife to my 10 yr old grandson, and plan on giving my sons each one of the boxed knives. But want to make sure they are worth about the same.

That Benchmark is tough to sharpen. Super hard steel.

I’m not super familiar with vintage folders. Is that just big display all CASE knives.

I do see a Sharade Sharpfinger there. That is a good knife. That style has probably taken aparts a bunch of deer across the generations.

Are those four fixed blades with the stacked leather handles Marbles knives?

Nice looking collection. I have no idea if any of them are worth anything or not, but it would be fun and interesting to look through them.

Years ago, I had (I think it was my dad's) one of those knives with the spoon and fork.

I suspect for anyone to attempt to value them, you'd need a better pic of the knives individually probably showing the text stamped into the blades or pommels or anywhere else.

I think Case knives do have quite a following, so if you've got some of those, they may be worth something, but I have no idea how much.

I don’t really expect them to be worth much, but you never know. I’ve already let my brother in law and a few relatives pick a few out before the pic was taken. If one happened to be worth something I would set it aside.

I was a bit upset to learn that the "old timer" brand is now made in china...Used to be made by Schrade in the USA. Good quality, good carbon steel, the favored pocket knife of many.

(edit) I also remember reading that India banned the export of "Stag" antlers once used in handle material. Didn't make much sense since no animals killed for the material, these are antlers that are shed annually. Still, maybe makes old knives with stag handles or scales more desirable? I'm not a collector, but I do have some old knives about...sheath and pocket. Took me a spell to figure out which pocket or hunting knife I'd feel most comfortable with.

I'd bet the one with the bakelite pommel is. The shape of the sheath makes it look like a Field Craft. Good eye...I've used Marbles most of my life until they sold out and I switched to Blackjack...then they did it too. Two sweet fixed blade companies back in the day when they made the stuff here. Marbles is old-school. -WW

without seeing them open and serial numbers looks like they are not worth much.

who made the large barlow?

the cases at the top right maybe worth a few bucks but i can't tel what patterns they are or condition

value is determined by two things in my experience, rarity and condition. the more rare, the less condition is important. Edit: also some patterns are more popular than others, also same for material...bone vs stag vs ebony etc

i'll typically pay $100 for an unused case pre-1980. i consider that a good value.

there are a ton of unused vintage cases in the market
