high heat spray paint. the verdict?

i'm using my cheapass chinese made wok burner almost daily. i meticulously unhook it and bring it into the garage daily. the top part still started to rust. it is surface rusted..i wired brushed it, and wiped it down with a alcohol. (which oddly made it rust more).

the thing is CAST IRON! i paid less than $100 for it, i am not gonna send it to a powdercoater

the main body is okay. i just picked up some high heat BBQ paint. put down a light misting layer. is this even gonna work? i imagined turning my burner a fire-engine red with some flames..but no. i went utilitarian satin black. the ACE hardware guy said the black is the most robust. dunno?

I have never had good luck with it for grills or the sidepipes on the Cobra.

I have hit the grill with the rust reformer stuff that sprays on clear and turns black where there is rust and it lasts longer than the paint.

Had no issue with BBQ Grill paint on a mini-14, often shot it fast enough to get the barrel to burning skin hot.

Did notice that it tended to wear on edges and corners though...

Instead of grill paint, why not try to season the burner like you would the wok or a CI pan? I mean, seasoning always held up on the bottom of my grandmothers CI pans that she used on a foot above burning coals so why wouldn't it work here? Or is a wok burner flame too hot for seasoning to work here?

I could not find good paint for two-stroke exhaust/muffler, dang those things run hot.

that wont work. i did think about it.

1st. it is already covered by some cheapass chinese silver paint.
2nd. the cast iron pan gets regularly coated with oil in the cooking process, i dont know how, but even the sides and bottom gets some grease.

i was about to grease it up..and try. but i figured that would be the wrong thing to do if i even had the slightest hint that i might try paint.

i should show you a pick.
