Le Mans 2018 and Porsche

Porsche going full retro at Le Mans this year. I guess all the leftover LMP budget went into stickers for the cars and the garages alike Anyone going this year?

Love the pink pig!

I am puzzled why the cooling ducts on the fronts of the two cars are different, the 92s is narrower than the 91s. Is one updated from the other?

I think the outer sections feed the front brake cooling and they seem half blanked off on the 92. It appears to have a horizontal splitter which wasn't there in 2017.

Last year's:

PS if you are mean piggy vs. "Rothmans", then they have the same openings. Follow the outline of the panel with the "70" logo on either side of the inlet. Just a visual illusion.

The Pig car looks good. But, for lots of reasons, the "Rothmans' livery misses the impact of the original. (At least in photos)

Don't tease me. For a spell, I thought they were going to bring back the 917.

Does the pig car still have Schwantz near the rear?

Love them both but wish the Rothmans car had 'Rothmans' on it. I promise I won't let that cause me to smoke.

Paul, I would love nothing more than to see a 917 driven around the Sarthe circuit in anger!

Very cool Doug, I'm sure you will have a great time. I knew I can't go this year but seeing the build up to the race got me all excited again. Make sure you catch the cars coming over the hill under the Dunlop bridge at dawn. Plenty of good spots around the Esses on the infield side at that time of the day. I'm jealous!

I agree. I didn't even recognize it as such until I saw your post

I've just learned something - actually two things.
Your term schwantz and the term labeled on the rear- schwanz (no T) - DON'T mean the same thing.

Wonder if it says Schwantz on the front and Schwanz on the back? Any better picture of the drivers and their livery-matching suits?

Does anyone run a 917 in the historic races?

You should go to Rennsport, there were a few 917s on track at Laguna for that last time!

I hope so, I will be in Le Mans Classic in July hoping to see 917's in their natural environment.

Watching them run Laguna Seca at full chat made the hair stand up on be back of my neck. It’s crazy when you get up to them and see how small they are and how minimal the safety equipment is.

At Rennsport the pits are open, so we were standing about 20 feet from Canepas car when he fired t up. Talk about exhilarating.

I went to one of early ones....mebbe a dozen years ago...in Daytona. What a hoot it was getting up close to the legends...and such a sparse crowd too. My regret....I didn't have my 911 down in Fl with me....We went sailing, and the Rennsport deal was just a bonus. But I would have loved to have taken her on the circuit for a few laps....do they still do that?
