We currently use LaserFiche but it has more features than we need now. Is there a decent , inexpensive software package to allow us to scan and later search for invoices?

The key is getting good text recognition instead of an un-parsable image. And of course, your current database of documents, metadata, etc

Me being a fan of Free software would look for a Open solution adn then if needed look for a company or individual to support your implementation for a one time fee.

Search terms like "open source document management" should get you plenty of other ideas, or ask on http://softwarerecs.stackexchange.com

Currently it brings up a bunch of fields so you can double check the OCR so that part works well. We used it for a lot of other stuff but upgraded the software in those departments and no longer need those features.
