Abu Musab al-Zarqawi reportedly arrested in Iraq

DUBAI, January 4 (Itar-Tass) - Abu Mus'ab al-Zarqawi, whom the US occupation authorities declared to be the "target number one" in Iraq, has been arrested in the city of Baakuba, the Emirate newspaper al-Bayane reported on Tuesday referring to Kurdish sources. Al-Zarqawi, leader of the terrorist group Al-Tawhid Wa'al-Jihad, was recently appointed the director of the Al-Qaeda organisation in Iraq.

The newspaper's correspondent in Baghdad points out that a report on the seizure of the terrorist, on whom the US put a bounty of 10 million dollars, was also reported by Iraqi Kurdistan radio, which at one time had been the first to announce the arrest of Saddam Hussein

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, head of the group suspected of beheading two Bulgarian hostages, has reportedly been arrested in Western Iraq.

Al-Zarqawi has been arrested by Iraqi police and US military close to the border with Syria, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported, citing information posted on the Internet.

Thats GOOD news. He will be replaced obviousily....but his replacement won't be as effective.

1. He will know his predessor was captured(his followers will know he is only temporary).
2. He will not have the talent or fanaticism ..or he would have been #1 in the first place

I thought all these tough guys were to fight to the death against the infidel & be rewarded with a free pass to paradise. What kind of example is he to his muslim (yep, lower case) brothers who have looke up to him, joined him & followed his exhortations to blow themselves up?
If this is indeed true, he is just another bully who's real tough when backed up by lots of his friends.
I hope his captors show him the compassion that he showed those he beheaded. I would have put a bullet through his *******
head on the spot . But, on 2nd thought, maybe he would be happier here in a U.S. prison as somebodies wife for the duration of his miserable existence.

If he's been captured, it'd do the US/allies the most good not to announce his capture for a while, until we can perform the extraction Tabs refers to. Once his buddies know he's been captured, they'll change their routines and generally do what they can to devalue the intel he has.

But, if we've caught that *****bag, I'm happy enough w/ that for now.

There is no proof he did Nick Berg. "The CIA believes" it was him, but then again, they claimed to have killed him last year with global hawk. The CIA has as much credibility as Michael Jackson. There realitys seem to match and so do their facts.
