Religion<---->Politics
I want to see if there is a connection between religion and political stance. Thank you to anyone who takes the time to participate.
BTW, i chose the most likely ones that i could, since pelican only allows a max of 15 options.

Mark me as Independent/Independent
I use to identify myself as Christian, mainly because of social and family traditions, but "real" Christians would be unlikely to describe me as a proper Christian.

Independent / Atheist
I have some (R) beliefs, some (D) beliefs, some libertarian beliefs, some green some anarchist, etc. I'd really hope that most people out there can't be dumbed down to one bullet point or the other. Same with religious beliefs. I see a variety of viewpoints and a diversity of opinions/beliefs as a strength, not a weakness of our society.

I used to be a Republican, but the party has basically become the home of the right-wing Christians, so I felt the need to take my fiscal conservatism, personal responsibility, smaller government ideals and go somewhere else.
I vote for the best person for the job now. Mike

You do realize that Catholics, Protestants and Baptists are all Christian, right?
Kinda makes it tough to pick a category.

You only listed two political parties - that doesn't show a person's politics. I do not hold to any one party.

The two party system is what is causing most of the government abuse.
Your poll is conformity personified. |

Like it or not there are only two choices when you vote for Pres that will make any difference in the outcome. Is this the best? No but it is life right now. All you people complaining that there are only Dem and Repub listed....how do you vote in an election? Do you vote some obscure party or do you actually vote where it would make a difference in the outcome?
P.S. I am sure Pat does not vote at all, as that would be against everything he stands for.....

"You do realize that Catholics, Protestants and Baptists are all Christian, right?
Kinda makes it tough to pick a category." I'm sorry i'm agnostic, I thought that there was a category of christians that were true to pure christian beliefs seperate from catholocism, protestants, etc.

This was mostly for my personal interest, it's interesting to see the number of agnostic/atheists are equal between parties but then the number of religious faithfulls are profoundly higher on the republican side.

Are you surprised that people of faith tend to be more conservative?
I thought it was widely accepted that Democrats were Godless heathens...
