Palin's floatplane

I've Googled "Sarah Palin's Floatplane"and looked at about a zillion titles and all I can find is --its red and white. Anyone Know the facts?
I hope its not a Cessna 150!

I believe it's a PA-18, Piper Cub on amphib floats, nice combination.

A Cessna 150 is too small and under powered to be a float plane. Maybe a 182 but likely a DeHaviland Beaver would be dead on....and they can be had for a decent price. Great planes...

A Beaver would be the ultimate,probably --but I learned to fly in a 90 hp Cub---
so she is OK!----wont get 5 kids in a Cub ,Tho'

Yep, it's a 1958 Piper PA-18-150 Super Cub on floats (Lycoming 0-320, 180hp).

It's 150 HP, Cub. Don't believe Piper did the Cub w/ 180 HP, Aviat Husky can be purchased with a 0-360 today.

Todd Palin is the listed owner and he is definitely a licensed pilot....don't know if Sarah is, but I would not be suprised if her and some of their kids know how to fly it.

Oops, yes 0-320 = 150hp. PA-18's are definitely "Super" Cubs though. And, you are correct; Piper never offered the 0-360/180hp Lycoming on the Super Cub. Although, there are TONS of PA-18's out there with 0-360's (especially in AK). The (only?) company that is producing STC'd clones (Cub Crafters) uses the 360 as well.

That is funny, I own a couple planes and I am very confident that I make less than a good portion of those who post here

Todd Palin acquired that used airplane in 2000 I believe and it probably cost less than a new 997 non turbo Porsche. A '58 super cub is not all that pricey, but floats (especially amphibious floats) can be pretty expensive.

They own a Super Cub on Floats? Yet ANOTHER reason to like her. We NEED somebody who will fix the FAA.
