Holder says some detainees may be released to US
Attorney General: Uighur Detainees May Go to U.S.
Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday it was possible that members of a group of Uighurs at the U.S. military detention facility in Cuba could be released on American soil. Attorney General Eric Holder says some Chinese Muslim detainees at Guantanamo Bay are being considered for release in the United States. During an interview Wednesday, Holder was asked whether members of a group of Uighurs at the U.S. military detention facility in Cuba could be released on American soil. He said it was a possibility. The United States has cleared 17 of the Uighurs for release from Guantanamo, but insists it will not hand them over to China because the Uighurs fear they will be tortured. Holder said the Justice Department is trying to come up with destinations for the Uighurs. These guys are not terrorists and should have been released many years ago. Uighurs' only beef is with China and that's only a few of them. These guys have had their own apt. or house in Gitmo for years. They've not been with the real terrorists. Last I heard about them, Albania was offering to take them. This one is a tragedy that's not getting a fair shake in the news.

There's definitely something at play here. So why were these guys separated from the rest of the Gitmo prisoners years ago and given their own apt. with tv and amenities? When I first read about them I saw some mention of a group of Uighurs in Maryland wanting to put them up. If they were really terrorists, why not send them back to China and let them handle it? China would gladly do it and not wring their hands over the matter.

There are a lot of detainees with TV rights and dormatory living down at GITMO. These guys aint the only one.
Bro, what where they doing in TORA BORA, Afghanistan during the US assault there? Seriously- even if these guys got snatched up in TORA BORA 'by accident', what the hell were they doing there? It's as about as remote a place on earth as there is- yet there they were. There's no way i'm buying the innocent victim angle that many attempt to pedal. SOMETHING was up. If nothing else they can serve as an abject lesson to others to choose their "vacation plans" far more carefully.
