Look, I found some of the new jobs being created.........
The following was Copyrighted and printed by Canada Free Press.Com. Wonder
why no U.S. news agencies looked at this? History of the First Lady Staff Total Personal Staff members (paid by taxpayers Mamie Eisenhower : 1 paid for personally out of President's Eisenhower's salary Jackie Kennedy: 1 Roseline Carter: 1 Barbara Bush: 1 Hilary Clinton: 3 Laura Bush: 1 Michele Obama: 22 How things have changed! If you're one of the tens of millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonalds cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the benefit package for these servants of Ms Michelle are the same as members of the national security and defense departments and the bill for these assorted lackeys is paid by YOU, John Q. Public: Michele Obama's personal staff: 1.. $172,200 - Sher, Susan (Chief Of Staff) 2. $140,000 - Frye, Jocelyn C. (Director of Scheduling and Advance for the First Lady) 9. $70,000 - Sanders, Trooper (Deputy Director of Policy and Projects for the First Lady) 10. $65,000 - Burnough, Erinn J. (Deputy Director and Deputy Social Secretary) 11. $64,000 - Reinstein, Joseph B. (Deputy Director and Deputy Social Secretary) 12. $62,000 - Goodman, Jennifer R. (Special Assistant and Personal Aide to the First Lady) 15. $52,500 - Mustaphi, Semonti M. (Associate Director and Deputy Press Secretary To The First Lady) 16. $50,000 - Jarvis, Kristen E. (Special Assistant for Scheduling and Traveling Aide To The First Lady) 17. $45,000 - Lechtenberg, Tyler A. (Associate Director of Correspondence For The First Lady) 18. $43,000 - Tubman, Samanth a (Deputy Associate Director, Social Office) 19. $40,000 - Boswell, Joseph J. (Staff Assistant to the Social Secretary) 21. $35,000 - Bookey, Natalie (Staff Assistant) 22. $35,000 - Jackson, Deilia A. (Deputy Associate Director of Correspondence for the First Lady) ( total = $1,591,200 in annual salaries) Note: This does not include makeup artist Ingrid Grimes-Miles, 49, and "First Hairstylist" Johnny Wright, 31, both of whom traveled aboard Air Force One to Europe .. There has NEVER been anyone in the White House at any time who has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady's social life. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense. Copyright 2009 Canada Free Press.Com canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/12652 |

A lot of those irritate me more than the fact that those jobs exist.
Trooper - isn't that usually a state cop's title? Erinn - isn't one N enough? Samanth - why did her mom leave out the A? |

I'd love to see how this compares with previous first ladies.
EDIT: DOH! Missed that. Those numbers seem off to me. The other first ladies had to have more than just a few helpers.

I don't like the O or her, but something is fishy about those numbers. I can't believe Hitlary only had 3.

There are lots of WH staffers who are career people and last for several administrations, but answer to the First Lady. I know Hillary's CoS for a while was Maggie Williams, who later ran her campaign for POTUS. Laura Bush's was Gordon Jondroe, who I think is the spokesman for their family now. Jackie Kennedy's was Letitia Baldridge, who is now a pretty well-known etiquette author. I used to work for her son in the mortgage biz. The WH has a whole slew of protocol and social/catering staffers who often answer to the First Lady. Hey, at least being First Lady is still an unpaid position.

Surprisingly, Snopes says it's only 1/2 BS:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/firstlady.asp Lara bush had between 24 and 26 of her "homies" on staff.

Reward your friends. Punish your enemies. Ignore the voters.
Chicago style politics - brought to a White House near you. Really, really, really - what did anyone else expect? |

We can ague the finer details, but that's not the point. The point is, the OP's story is BS and that should be obvious to anyone who takes a second to think about it. Let's use some common sense here, guys. Do you really believe the Obama's are going to be stupid enough to come into the White House and hire an outrageous, unprecedented number of personal staff, with a budget that is orders of magnitude larger than their predecessors? Of course not. But these kind of made-up stories make good fodder for forums like these, I guess ![]()

While I don't believe that's what's going on here, it has happened before and will happen again. Remember when Hillary Clinton fired the entire WH travel office, all of whom were career, not political, folks, so she could bring in her AR cronies? Hillary totally lied about this under oath too. But no matter. It has happened before and will continue.

What have the obamas done that would make me think differently, nothing. Where have they saved money, the parties they have, the Paris trips, the golf outings, the dinner dates, the stupid trip for the olympics, the fly over in New York, I just don't see why it wouldn't be believable.

The Obama- tard is spending over $2.2 Billion PER DAY in deficit spending. That is spending money we don't have and then borrowing to cover it. Wasting or blowing might be a better description than spending. He has already blown more money in deficit spending than all the other presidents COMBINED! He obviously doesn't have a problem going overdrawn by a couple Million dollars PER MINUTE, what's a few dozen wookie assistants? |

Yawn. A complete non-story.
From the Snopes page that apparently nobody read: .......It's therefore fair to say that the size of Michelle Obama's staff is not "unprecedented," but rather on a par with her immediate predecessor's. Moreover, according to the Associated Press, several other First Ladies had larger numbers of personnel working for them than Michelle Obama does: A look at some first ladies and their staff sizes: Laura Bush: Between 24 and 26 by end of President George W. Bush's term in 2009, according to Anita McBride, Mrs. Bush's chief of staff. Lady Bird Johnson, whose signature issue was beautifying roadways, had a staff of 30, said Stacy A. Cordery, a history professor at Montmouth College in Illinois who studies first ladies. Betty Ford had almost the same number. Jacqueline Kennedy, who made renovating the White House her cause, had about 40 people on staff, Cordery said.

That is, they SAY that Laura had more staff than what was listed, but they don't back it up, NOR do they speak about any Actual size of Michelle's staff. --My bet is Michelle bosses around FAR FAR more than did Laura. OTOH, if you compare Michelle's army to that of Hillary's it's likely similar. ...even if that long list of paid positions is longer for Michelle.
