There are lots of WH staffers who are career people and last for several administrations, but answer to the First Lady. I know Hillary's CoS for a while was Maggie Williams, who later ran her campaign for POTUS. Laura Bush's was Gordon Jondroe, who I think is the spokesman for their family now. Jackie Kennedy's was Letitia Baldridge, who is now a pretty well-known etiquette author. I used to work for her son in the mortgage biz. The WH has a whole slew of protocol and social/catering staffers who often answer to the First Lady. Hey, at least being First Lady is still an unpaid position.

What have the obamas done that would make me think differently, nothing.

I will give you that other 'First-ladies' have had a ridiculous amount of staff (they are NOT elected officials) BUT Snopes is NOT comparing apples to apples, when comparing Laura's count to that of Michell's.

That is, they SAY that Laura had more staff than what was listed, but they don't back it up, NOR do they speak about any Actual size of Michelle's staff. --My bet is Michelle bosses around FAR FAR more than did Laura. OTOH, if you compare Michelle's army to that of Hillary's it's likely similar. ...even if that long list of paid positions is longer for Michelle.
