City of Colton closes all libraries
The City of Colton, a hillbilly town in San Bernardino County, has closed all the public libraries. Thay say it will save the city xxxxx dollars a year. Of course they didn't cut off any funding for illegals, but then, they don't use the libraries anyway.
This will show those taxpayers who is boss and they can't fight city hall, mess with our money and we will close the libraries, the parks, and maybe even cut off street cleaning. But we won't cut funding for illegals.

The City of Chicago pulls this kind of crap annually. They cut services to taxpayers (never to people who don't pay taxes). It's all a ruse to "prove" that they need more money, either from the state or in higher taxes.
Last year (third year in a row of this crap) the CTA claimed it didn't have the money to continue operation. Raising fares was out of the question. They demanded more money from the state and got it. They said the money would only just barely keep them solvent. A few months after the "crisis" was out of the news, they bought a new fleet of trains and buses. Now they are demanding more money from the state AGAIN and claiming AGAIN that they will go insolvent and the additional funding will just barely keep them afloat....AGAIN. And AGAIN, raising fares is out of the question. ![]()

I wouldn't miss it if they closed every library in the country. Last time I was in one was in college. And I still read plenty.

You probably complain about the youth of today, yet you want to take their books away. How typical.

They should just cut/ close across the board and let those who give a dare about a program the library, illegals or whatever, and allow a tax deduction for contributing to the thing that pricks your heart.

Virgil Earp is buried there....he was the town Marshall after leaving Tombstone...As a matter of fact Colton is where Wyatt Earp spent his teenage years...

Some illegals do use libraries. they use the restrooms to wash up and throw the soiled toilet paper on the floor.
Libraries have been replaced with the internet. They are obsolete and expensive. I have no problem with them going away. |

No kidding. But, OTOH, without public Libraries what other type of expensive (tax dollar) building will the bureaucrats build in their name?

Eliminating libraries could equate to "burn the books" because we now have the potential of massaging electronic type w/o evidence of tampering. Society would be better off by closing TV and leaving libraries open. S |

maybe libraries should be member supported, we pay for TV, Internet, periodicals etc. If that doesn't work then perhaps the local high school library would suffice.

You're welcome to burn your books. I buy mine and then loan them out to friends and family when I'm done or trade them for more at used book stores. And I'd have no problem closing down tv stations that can't support themselves too. I don't mind paying for what I use. I do mind paying for what I don't use.
