Like Father, Like Son
I've posted here many times that I thought Ron Paul was a danger to conservative's chances to retake the congress in November. I've described him, as other have, as "a crazy uncle in the Republican attic". I'm sticking by that, despite the support he has among many conservatives/libertarians on this board. Now his son, Rand Paul, has been unleashed, it looks like Republicans may have to deal with a crazy cousin that has escaped from that attic.

Sometimes a crazy uncle is exactly what a party needs to wake up the guests.

At the risk of being called a racist, I think if you have a business, you should be able to do business with whom you want, and onlly whom you want. Don't think of a lunchcounter, and yes I understand the time and the place that the Civil Rights Act took place. I lived in Tennessee as a kid for a year or two and thought segregation was very strange (my family was from Boston). Instead of lunchcounter, think law firm, engineering firm. A consultant can choose to work for whatever client will hire him. If he chooses not to, you can't make the consultant work for an undesirable client; define "undesirable" any way you want.

The R's desperately need to moderate their message. The swing voters (the only ones who count) just don't do crazy. I think Christie and Jindal are probably the best hopes for the Right.

What is really stupid is that, even in Rand Paul's mind, it's settled law. If he wouldn't change it then why bring up such an inflammatory subject. Stupid political blunder.
Madcorgi, I think you're dead on.

Christie, yes. Jindal can't talk his way out of a wet paper bag.
Unfortunately, I predict that the right will run Jindal, because a marketing expert will point out that he's not an old white man, and 'that's what we need to be competitive." That's why they picked Palin in 2008.

I would rather talk about Blumenthal, the other liberal lying POS that talked about his Vietnam experience, just another liberal lier like J. Kerry lied about his experience. Most liberals don't have to lie because we know they never did anything, no military service.

I wouldn't vote for Jindal even if my dick was on fire.
Christie i would gladly vote for. His press conferences are a thing of beauty. |

Do you believe that to turn a black person away from a lunchcounter because they're black is racial discrimination and shouldn't be allowed, but to turn a black person away from working for a law firm or an enginering firm because they are black is OK?
