Will it ever end? I think as a society, we are weakened by special interest groups like the NAACP. I read some of the comments that followed the article, hip hop and rap music use that reference so often it is comical. I guess it is O.K. in that context though. Isn't yoyo black?

When an advocacy organization achieves all of its initial goals, it has a choice:
1) Disband OR 2) Become more an more extreme so as to find something to "fight". Sadly, most such organizations go for option #2. The people who run them don't want to find real jobs, or let all of their political contacts go to waste. The American Lung Association is another example. Once upon a time, the organization's main push was lung cancer research. I don't know that they even do that anymore. Instead, they have been the driving force behind various state-wide smoking bans. And do you know what they've done since that campaign was largely successful? They have gone after leaf-burning, campfires, and car emmissions. Most "civil rights" organizations are largely the same. They have accomplished everything they were established to accomplish, so they invent new reasons to exist. Look at the ACLU. It has established the first amendment as sacred and beyond reproach. To survive, it has become a wing of the DNC.
