Could the U.S. be next?
When will we protest? When will we revolt?
Or have we no reason to do so, and at that, if we did have reason, do we not have the stomach to actually do something about it as the people are doing in the Middle East, and now, supposedly, China?

It is coming. When there is food on the table, there are many problems. When there is no food on the table there is only one problem. The Wisconsin situation is going to show the unions they do not have the support of a majority of the people. Many public service unions will concede future benefit/wage contracts. That fire will go out. The wealthy will be forced to cough up some dinero. There will be some trouble when 'checks' begin to shrink. The community organizers will foment discord. The real troubles begin when the checks start to not show up. Such things as Barbara Boxer whining about lawmakers sleeping in their offices while Rome burns will speed things along.

We already have what they are wishing for, but we will still revolt.
It'll be peaceful, it'll be gradual, and it has already started. We are taking back our country from the spend-crazy socialists and commies who are trying to bankrupt us. We aren't going to let that happen. The silent majority, the average Joe, Mr. and Mr's America, the people who made this country great are sick and tired of the sicko left-wing wackos and perverts and their total lack of ethics and morals. They've awoken the sleeping giant and it is pissed. |

I don't think they are trying to bankrupt us - they are trying to remain relevant. The problem is they don't understand or want to accept some basic human conditions. They want to give give give to those who are not interested in earning their way.

David, you live in LA. The majority of people around here are fairly happy with the current leadership. That's why we keep electing the same people (the Boxers and Feinsteins and Jerry Browns) into office. Even with the opportunity for "new blood" to replace outgoing officials, we vote in Democrats such as our new atty general. The average person in SoCal thinks we're not doing enough so to speak, not the other way around. We don't think we're oppressed. We think our government hasn't been given enough of an opportunity to make our world a better place. That's 180 degrees different than what's going on in the Middle East.

Maybe that's the sort of revolt I have in mind. One where these people suddenly say enough to more taxes, a la Jerry Brown's $55 billion budget, and enough to Obama. But it'll never happen, so who am I kidding? ![]()

If you cut off the Welfare money, you will have riots in California far worse than the Rodney King Riots.

Are any of the governors proposing massive cuts in welfare payments? I don't recall any news of this if there are. It looks like all the noise so far is being made by people alleging to be unionized government employees. I would bet in their initial strategy sessions these governors are strongly advised to banish the thought of cutting back welfare payments. The Cloward-Piven strategery seems to be working.

The American people are well manipulated. As long as Jersey Shore and American Idol air as scheduled, order will be maintained.

I would support examining welfare to remove a abuses but there are many people who survive only on SS and some welfare. We don't want this country to look like Haiti.

And the able-bodied welfare recipients need to be put to work. As long as we're paying them, why not?

The able-bodied over the age of 18 anyway. There needs to be serious changes in the eligibility rules. Because those changes would necessarily be more severe and widespread than those suggested by the Governor of Wisconsin, they are not likely to happen. Cloward and Piven: Collapse the system and start over without the ruse of capitalism.

If Governor Walker prevails in Wisconsin and other states follow suit, you will see riots in the streets. It won't just be public unions affected. States will look at this as an opportunity to cut all kinds of subsidies/programs. Governors Walker and Christie are the first to put their political futures on the line in a long time to stop abuses of the taxpayer. I wish them well.
