You'll be sorry, coming to a state that has been run into the ground so deep by democrats for so long, with moonbeam giving everything that was left to the unions, it isn't going to last.
but I knew you didn't mean it.

Who's Fukuyama? He sounds very clever. Was that meant to be profound? Because it's very silly.

That's right up ther with the obviousness of " Today is the first day of the rest of your life" Duh!

Dipso, Francis Fukuyama is an author, a political scientist and a historian. He was with the Stae department's Policy and Planning Staff years ago. I think he is now doing work for various places like the Rand Corp as well as being a guest lecturer at Havard. Get his book and read it - The End of History and the Last Man. Its a good read.

After your done with that one, get John Lukacs book - The End of the Twentieth Century and the End of the Modern Age. It is a thoughtful rebuttal to Fukuyama's work.

Once you are done with those, might I suggest reading - Guns, Germs and Steel, the Fates of Human Societies by Jared Diamond as well as Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds by Charles Mackay.

I would like to have thoughtful dialogue with you but I am under the impression that you still have much to learn. I would welcome the opportunity to help you increase your intellectual capacity and range of thought.

The books that I have mentioned should be available at your Pub Lib - thats also a great place to meet other liberals. I don't think these books will be taken out by many of them so the pages will be crisp sans dog ears.

Have fun!

Hope you're planning on living to about 150 or so. What you asked could take awhile.

LOL.

They were already vastly underpaid and overworked but have been demonized to no end by clueless Republican politicians. The brightest and the best are fleeing ahead of the wave (can't blame them) with irreplaceable skills...and can can only be replaced one for two or one for three depending on dept (with new, unexperienced personnel)...and some organizations vital to national security were already desperately undermanned to start with. I consider decimating a dept of defense in the middle of three active wars and a war against very active terrorists to be as detrimental to the nation as even Obama.
No doubt there are bad apples on both sides, but overall the right will do the most to preserve our military strength.

I didn't say Texas sucks. I'm sure there are some big cities and suburbs that are semi tolerable.

What I am saying is that a Republican governor who is presiding over a 28 billion dollar shortfall, from a state that has barely that as a GDP to start with. Will never be President of a country slowly climbing out of another Republican recession.

He has as much of a chance as Schwarzeneggar.

A step better than Barny Frank, he just did it with women.
He was Governor of a State run by Democrats, he never had a chance, he tried to get the voters on his side but the unions spent zillions to defeat him. He finally gave up.

Once you bring up those things that narrows the Republican field even more.
The Edwards reference rules out Newt.
And if Schwarzeneggers excuse was the state is ruled by Democrats. Perry doesn't have an excuse, except he is incompetent.
Texas isn't ruled by Democrats.

Fear sells. And since the Conservative brain is wired to respond predictably to fear, there will always be a base for these people to sell to.
Until they are bred out through evolution.
I figure a few more generations should do it.

I would vote for guy to the right of Bill Clinton, if he could bring the two Parties together.

A conservative who was also a conservator.

Nobody will ever want to practice energy conservation if you start out by taking away their washing machines, just as nobody who has paid in for over 30 years wants to give up Medicare or SS.

Far Left and Far Right attitudes are making the cart tipsy. We need to get behind this country and put our shoulders to the load, but nobody wants to sweat.

You are probably right although they are certainly playing into the hands of the left as they lead the charge to dismantle the functions of the federal government that are actually necessary and are called for in the Constitution. The newly elected Freshmen from last fall are the worst, attempting to ride the wave of discontent that brought them to office by fomenting divisiveness throughout the nation, targeting groups they can easily demonize who will really not be able to fight back. Almost every prominent Republican from Ryan to Pawlenty have trashed federal employees and have called for drastic reductions across the board...which hits the Dept of Defense twice as hard as other agencies...because they are simultaneously drawing down the number of military personnel. Just like Obama, they sound like silly school girls asking for things when they do not comprehend the result. Much like the liberals that call for an end to drilling oil without considering that it might raise gas prices or the doofuses that require ethanol at the pump and wonder why food prices and gas prices both go up. I am very disappointed as I have supported conservatives very strongly for many years and they seem to have turned out to be as bad as their liberal cousins. They have bewildered millions of strong conservatives like me who are reconsidering whether they are any better. Either they have not done their homework, will say anything to pick up a couple or tea-bagger votes (who will vote for them anyways), or are simply fools. They make Palin sound quite worldly.

Oh the liberals at the top know that gas prices will go up when they stick it to big oil..... That is what they want so that folks will think that the cost of unviable green energy is not so bad.

Help me Lord, I pretty much agree with finny. Of course, if I were tabs, I'd point out that I predicted that the tea baggers would do exactly what they are doing well before the election.

. . . by sending them off to die in pointless wars of aggression that just happen to make their defense and oil industry masters even richer. Hey, what's a few thousand dead kids when you can help a donor buddy at Haliburton, Koch Industries, or Brown and Root?

Read the books - they are not at all fearful! In fact, they are actually very inspiring.

Once again, judging a book by it's cover.

Remember, to a liberal, the degree to which one is "open-minded" is judged by the amount of liberal media they consume.

So a liberal can be extremely "open-minded" by consuming 100% liberal media, but a conservative who consumes 50% liberal media and 50% conservative media is "close-minded".

You have to understand the the twisted scorecard being used to understand the score.
