I posted this last night, in the 'vote' thread, but really it needs it's own thread.

It's about time they someone had some balls to start swinging. --Strangely, it was Bachmann who started putting this info out there (during the debate) Examining the WHY of our problems is key to fixing the problems. Of course the Dem's will want to gloss over the HUGE mistakes of the past, as they promise answers for the future. :-/ Anyway, we do need to perp-walk some of these crooks. ...even tho' Bwaney might enjoy prison poundings.

I'd be happy with iron-clad term limits. One term and you can never run for office again at any level. That would guarantee idiots like Dodd and Frank never get a second chance to screw things up even more and would always have to be thinking about getting a real job.

term limits are nice, but I see merit to taking the more directed, punitive approach. --that is we need to push back hard on this culture of corruption.

They broke no laws, so they won't be punished. Dodd might have skated on the letter of the law, but he's retired, so it's moot. The problem is career politicians who've never had real jobs before and treat everything as if it's paid for by someone else......well, because it is paid for by someone else. Take that attitude in any private company and your career will be short. Not so in gov't.

Just off the top of my head, I think of the gay brothel Fwank had running from his house. And then there is lying to Congress "kwysis? ...thewiz no kwysis.." ...or is it legal for congressmen to lie to congress?

Frank wasn't running the brothel. His butt buddy was. Whether he lied about it or not is a 25 yr. old matter of he said/he said. You know there is no chance of a member of Congress ever being prosecuted for whatever they say in the day-day duties of their job.

If you're talking about the refi he got from Countrywide, he didn't ask for it and (so he says) was unaware the deal he got was anything other than the deal you or I would get. Honestly, this is the least of the damage Dodd has done to this country and he'd never get prosecuted for it.

Well, more to Newt's point... The protesters are off the mark. That is, banks & businesses (for the most part) play by the rules set by our Congress. Our Congress is supposed to provide a fair, balance of law for the people of this country to thrive - clearly, guys like Fwank were swayed by other, special pet interests. So, if anyone should be thrown in a hole for bad behavior it should be those politicians who gambled big ... gambled recklessly, with a system which was working.
Fed Govt is no place for big experimentation. Next up to fail spectacularly; Obamacare.
