The overt nature of teamObama's war on business is a good thing. ("you didn't build that" and all)
I mean, here we are witnessing the over-reach of Chicago politics trying to shake-down the private sector to feed their graft and corruption. And we see the demonetization of smart successful people by a group of parasitic shake-down artists. Business is pushing back. But are they pushing back hard enough? Will they drive those parasites into a dark hole, where they won't bother anyone for a few decades? Or are we destine to revisit more of this highly parasitic bad behavior for years to come? One big strength that Romney has going for him is that he has taken big businesses --which had been driven into the ground-- and turned them around. --Arguably by cutting out the bad management. Romney also has his own money - making him not so easily bought-off (he's no power-hungry Acorn-backed 'community organizer.) Of course, POTUS, that is just one branch of govt. So many Congressmen/women, Senators are still problematic. hmmm...

Why is everybody so anti-business all of a sudden? Everybody works for somebody. Pretty well keeps us all fed.

Because they only repeat what they here.
4 years ago they were Mr and Mrs patriot. Now that Obama has quieted their fears. They all of a sudden are Mr and Mrs businessperson. Not a peep about business, 4 years ago when the recession peaked. Honestly, who knows what these Parfers actually think They are parrots. Parrots aren't much on thinking, but they repeat pretty good, with proper training. Currently, it is considered unacceptable that anyone should be considered more capable than anyone else. If the evidence for such superior capability is incontrovertible, then such superiority must arise through simple luck, family connections or malice and certainly not through one's own abilities. I suspect this is why successful conservative members of "minorities" are so loathed. Their success is a daily demonstration that the events of the past are not a blanket excuse for the failures of today. Anyway, my $0.02

“He didn’t invent iron ore and blast furnaces, did he?”
“Who?” “Rearden. He didn’t invent smelting and chemistry and air compression. He couldn’t have invented his Metal but for thousands and thousands of other people. His Metal! Why does he think it’s his? Why does he think it’s his invention? Everybody uses the work of everybody else. Nobody ever invents anything.” She said, puzzled, “But the iron ore and all those other things were there all the time. Why didn’t anybody else make that Metal, but Mr. Rearden did?” - Atlas Shrugged, Page One, Chapter Nine. |

Obama is attempting to cut open the Golden Goose while it is still living. Surely this is the secret to extracting the riches.

The owner of the company I now work for spoke at the House Ways and Means committee today at the hearing on Tax Reform and the U.S. Manufacturing Sector. I only caught a bit of it live on-line, but the part I heard had him pulling no punches in regard to how harmful govt can be to the health of small businesses.

This is the personal property tax on business. It's evil to it's core, and just about every city and community around these parts has it. Oh yea, my favorite part - stop everything you are doing, and fill out these forms as soon as you get them, or else we charge you almost double, and will sick the city attorney on you. I haven't heard your boss Tim, but I bet that I agree with him on many points. These are local taxes, not Fed and have been around for a long, long time.

Your opinion of business owners is laudable. However, biz ownership is but one skill in the art of business. You have merely placed business ownership skills above all employee-type jobs and individual preferences. More capable than scientists, engineers, technicians at JPL? More capable than nurses, doctors, health care workers and bio-tech researchers at Mayo Clinic and elsewhere, etc.? More capable than musicians and artists? I think your world is too narrow to see the larger picture beyond the skillset of amassing large bottom lines via a business structure as well as observing/interpreting situations that only reinforce those narrow points of view. You might indirectly be claiming that job creators (aka business owners) need more/continuous tax breaks and other advantages in order to quick-start/grow our economy - IOW, "trickle-down" economics. You realize that particular theory has never borne the expected fruit and recent/current trickle-down policies have gotten us to our current situation, yes? Otherwise, we would be hunky dory with your POV. Sherwood My $.02 as well |
