Looks like we'll have a pretty good turn out. I've confirmed the reservation and we're currently set up for up to 15, but I have a feeling we can expand that if needed. If you've been to Hopworks before, we'll be in the upstairs area. It sounds like we'll have it to ourselves, so the more the merrier.

OK, so after the pressure to get Steve to show up w/ one of his beauties, it looks like I'll be arriving in the Subie. Turns out I need to replace 2 of my CV joints. Unless FedEx performs a miracle, you'll have to wait to meet "Fat Boy".

Lance - looking forward to meeting you. Obviously you apreciate good beer and know it's worth the trip.

All - The reservation is under "Josh". I should be there early, but there is a slim chance my CV joints are showing up tomorrow. I may try to ditch work early to get them installed so I don't have to hang my head in shame for showing up in the Subie (sorry Eric )

Ryan:

I'm no mechanic, but if you need any help with the CV joint job give me a call. I should be in Portland the weekend of the October A&D.

Cheers,

Paul.

Ah man, nice jab Josh! I may be showing up in the subie but I think the long wait while I build the car will be worth it.

Eric - I'll probably still be showing up in my Subie, so we can hang our heads in shame together. I'm not sure I'll be able to get home, grease and install the CV's and still get to HUB in time. That doesn't mean I won't try, if my CV's show up today

oregonmon - I'll be happy to help out with the swap. Of course, after talking to Eric (thanks for the help, by the way), I confirmed that have turbo CVs and axles, so it's a much cleaner job than the standard SC or Carerra CV replacement.

Josh,

We should have done this a long time ago. Lets make this a regular 2nd Wednesday thing (Tuesdays and Thursdays do not work real well for me).

It was great to be able to put some faces to the folks we see here.

I feel obligated to mention that the 2009 driving season is drawing to a close. Oregon PCA will be having their last Autocross on October 11 and the last DE day is on October 25. Our final Arrive and Drive is the Burrito Run (to Manzanita) on 10/17.

Maybe some of us will attend some of these events.

Argh!

I didn't flake, I completely forgot about Hopworks until just now. Sorry guys, but I'll come next time if I'm free.

My son waking me up at 4am this morning and not going back to sleep could have been a contributing factor.

I'd like to see this more a Pelican event than a PCA event. . .

Rasta:

I my mind, this was not a PCA event nor should it be.

Then again, I think folks need to know about local driving events to make their own choices.

That was fun, even if I couldn't stay long. Thanks!

+1 on having more of these.

If we want to rotate locations for variety or less noise or whatnot, I'll propose one:
- Moon and Sixpence, 2014 NE 42nd Ave, just north of NE Sandy. British pub, lots of tables, quiet on a Wednsday evening.

I want to thank everyone that was able to make it last night (and those that had the best of intentions of attending ) I think we had a pretty good turn out for our first gathering. I had a great time and enjoyed meeting everyone and putting faces to names.

I definitely think we should make this a regular event. Wednesdays work for me, but it sounds like we might have some folks willing to make the long haul, if we hold gatherings on a weekend. Maybe I'll add a poll to the post and see what works best for folks.

I'm also open to changing venues. While I like Hopworks (who knew they'd be so packed on a Wed night???), it was hard to join in any of the converasations happening at the other end of the table. John (jyl) has offered up one suggestion, let's here where others like to go as well. Also, keep parking in mind. I know I'm planning on showing up in my Porsche, whenever possible.

Also in regards to Pelican vs PCA - I don't think it's either. It's really both and then some... While Pelican offers a great forum to pull folks together, it's really about gettling local Porsche owners (no matter your background) together to "talk shop" over some drinks and food. Heck, half the conversations I heard or was part of weren't even Porsche related. At the end of the night, all that matters is that you had a good time and met some new folks that also suffer from Porsche-o-filia.
