The first Turbos were 86-88, with 86 having different offset and no ABS. Turbo S (most were Silver Rose) was 88 only on top of the standard turbo. 89-91 the Turbo S became the standard and dropped the S.
944S2 was 89-91

Also note that the 89 base model 944 was a 2.7 instead of a 2.5.

Looks pretty original, and that's what you're paying for at $275k.
Rare color and desirable early 911.

$275K for a Sportmatic? I don't think so.

And listing it as a "4D sedan"? Ummmm.....

Did sportomatics have three pedals?

It probably is over priced, but when selling, you can always come down in price (not go the other way). Regardless...it's way out of my budget...

Must be pretty proud of that car. Isn't that price at least a $100K ( or maybe $200K) over the market?

Can anyone educate me on the ramifications of a "rebuilt" title in Oregon? I know the car was in an accident, so repair inspection is a must. And I know it will affect resale. But would I have any problems getting a title, etc.? Should I just run away?

Thanks in advance...

It depends on the car, what you will pay, etc. Details? To me a rebuilt title is a 40% discount over KBB or NADA retail. Your insurance carrier may have an issue with full coverage insurance, since a rebuilt car has a questionable past and not worth retail. Does the seller have photos of the damage and details of how it's been repaired? Is this just an "disposable" beater car for you? Are you paying cash, because a bank may not finance it. If the seller is from Vancouver and speaks with a heavy Russian accent, run very fast the other direction!

Ah yes, I didn't think about insurance as well...I would have to check on that.

Cash purchase. Not a "disposable" beater at all, but a low enough initial investment...seems a lot of car for the money (if the repairs were done well). Not sure on any Russian connections...

Not too many Ruskies in Scio, so you should be safe. What's retail on that vintage 944? If it's something you want, then low ball them and see what happens. Did you see this 944 with a clean title and low miles....

I have to admit that these 944s have aged very nicely

I did see that 944. I shop every day, but I just don't know what I want to do next. My first Pcar was an '88 944 n/a, which I loved. I think about the S2s for their 208hp and cleaner look without the complexity of the Turbo.

I'm not sure what NADA has them at, but I see them all over the board in terms of pricing. Usually over $10k, with most in the $12k - $15k range. But some get close to $30k. So compared to those, a $7500 car seems like a deal.

Here's one in Boring... https://portland.craigslist.org/clc/cto/d/porsche-944-s2/6274592628.html

And at the top end... https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used-1991-Porsche-944-S2-Hatchback-Seattle-t9803_L37788#listing=179760316

Marc, I wasn't able to find anything that would meet your needs.
