I'll do my best, but would prefer Thursday nights- that way we can make a weekend out of it! When is the next one?

Well, Thursday is a close second to Wed. Maybe we can find a Thurs that works for you and the rest of the crew for an occasional get together.

Thanks Josh! Is this a weekly or monthly deal?

Hi Paul - we're thinking about every 2nd Wednesday. It'd probably be tough, but I'm sure we could probably convince a few folks to come out for drinks on a mid-month Thursday, so you could join us.

Josh:

Sounds good- I'll be in town for the last PCA 'Arrive & Drive' event of the year, on the weekend of October 17th. If anyone will be around then (Thursday, or better yet Friday night) I'd be up for a beer.

Cheers,

Paul.

I presume we will do this again.

Harry - perfect timing...

So from our unofficial poll/vote, from our first get together, we decided to make this a monthly event. Based on my "official" poll, Wednesday's are the magic days (although I promised Paul we'd try to find a day for him to come and join us). Using a series of complex formulas and after hours of calcuations, I've been able to deduce that we should be meeting this coming Wednesday (10/14).

However, my math skills aren't quite what they used to be and I wasn't able to determine where the event is to take place. I think I may have transposed, "I hate Hollywood," "fizzy yellow beer sucks," or "the dog ate my homework" in one of my formulas. So instead of trying to figure out the right answer, I though I'd take the easy way out and resort to everyone's favorite - multiple guess.

Operating under the assumption that one of the following is the correct answer, please guess away. Of course, if you fee like doing the math and can prove a different answer is correct, feel free (please show your work).

1) Moon & Sixpence
2) The Tap Room
3) Power Station (Edgefield)
4) Kennedy School
5) Paul's house

I can't make this one. However, if everybody chooses 5) I would be more than happy to host!

Please let me know when the November meet will be, hope to see you guys then.

Cheers,

Paul.

Josh:

I would help to show the locations. I am not thrilled with Edgefield as is is not centrally located. The others are close enough to be viable in my book and a Road trip to La Grande would not be a bad thing in my book.

I will try to go by The Tap Room on the way back from autocross and see if it is a viable venue.

Harry - I agree the Edgefield isn't ideal for a mid-week gathering, which is why I tossed Kennedy in the mix. I'm open to any of the "local" venues.

Jim - thanks for the offer. Just don't drool too much over the beers, if it works out, we want them to let us come back

Paul - just be warned, we may take you up on your offer. A road trip to NE OR would be fun! Just exactly how many tents will your backyard fit?

If my memory serves me right, we had 13 folks show up at the first one. Then again, you've seen my math skills - but I'm hoping we'll get a similar turn out for the next one. In all seriousness, we need to pick a place pretty quickly, so I can see about reservations.

My vote is for Kennedy or Moon & Sixpence. Kennedy can definitely host a group our size, but I like the "olde English pub" descripion on M & S. Obviously parking may be an issue for M & S. We'll see what Jim reports back from Mac's.

Also just checked out Widmer, per Nize's suggestion and it sounds good, I'm just not sure about parking in that part of town or if they can fit a group our size. They have a room available, but it's something like $500 to reserve it, so I think that's out unless someone can verify otherwise.

All joking aside, there are some fantastic driving roads between here and Portland.

Plus La Grande has some excellent restaurants and a new Brew Pub.

But if anyone is serious about meeting here, I suggest we make it happen in the summer. That way I can plan a whole weekend of driving.

Plenty of room for tents in the back yard. And 3 spare bedrooms!

Let me know when the November meeting will be. I'll do my best to show up!

McMenamins may not be central, but it does have ample parking, ample bars, and great beer!

Cheers,

Paul.

OK; here is my recon report. Ended up having to go by the Tap Room twice, as they had a wedding reception there last night and therefore no entry. Too bad as I wanted to see what a night-time crowd would look like.

Went to Bridgeport instead. We DO NOT want to go there! Great beer, great food, but loud as all hell. Could not hear my son across the table.

Got lunch at the Tap Room today. Good amount of space, they even have an outside covered area with heaters and picnic benches, plus plenty of parking.

My recommendations, based only on my experience, is Tap Room or Kennedy's.

Later!

Jim - thanks for the recon effort. Based on your feedback, let's go for the Tap Room.

Who's in for this Wednesday (10/14)? I'll call for a reservation, but need to know how many will be able to make it. I think 6PM worked for everyone last time, so we'll say 6 again.

Thanks

Hi Josh.

Please put me down for one.

A heads-up for all coming: the intersection at 29th and Industrial will be closed this week, so you will want to go down Nicolai and turn North on 30th or 31st, instead.
