oregon -PDX Beers and Burgers second Thursday every month

At Ryan's suggestion, I've updated the first post to also show the latest and greatest gathering time...

second Thursday of every month at the Tap Room (Pyramid). Folks start showing up around 4:30 or 5 and we go until whenever (usually not past 8 or 9).

Location: The Taproom

2730 Northwest 31st Avenue
Portland, OR 97210
(503) 228-5269

Thanks Larry. If another day works better for folks, I'm also up for changing that as well. I can't do Mondays, but thought Tues or Wed would be an easier day to get a (hopefully) large group into a restaurant.

Yeah, good idea. I've thought about this too, why should the Seattle guys get all the sticky threads.
I'll try to make it. Although I think my 911 has a bad CV joint. Anybody do this job?

oregonmon - My car is down right now due to needing new CV boots (maybe joints) so we're in the same boat. I can't get the bolts to budge, so I started in on other upgrades/repairs I was trying to hold off until the winter.

Harry - go ahead and send it out to the ORPCA. I just joined PCA and have yet to touch base with the OR chapter.

oregonmon - here's the best thread I found on CV r&r:

Constant Velocity Joint, CV Joint Service - Maintenance

good to see others in the area are organizing regular porsche events.

let me know if this becomes a regular event, and it will be stickied!

I recently did the joints on a different car and wish I had just entirely new axles instead of just the boots. Don't know the price difference for the 911 but for my audi it was not much more and would have been much less messy and much quicker of a job.

Oh, and I'll see everyone at hopworks next week!

Steve - you can only come if you bring one of the cars from your shop Just kidding. We'd love to have you there.

Therotman and Eric - we'll see you there!

oregonmon - I just pulled my driver's side axle and CVs. It's pretty easy to do, as long as you're willing to sacrafice some fingers when the allen bolts finally let go. I used a cheap Harbor Freight extended hex socket w/ a ball tip and it worked great. Well worth the $10 I paid for it. I had no damage to any of my allen bolt heads. It took me a while to figure out how to re-assemble the CV, but now that I know how to do it, I can put it together in a few minutes. I still need to repack them and put on the new boots, but I should have squeaky/leak free CVs on Wed.

Just got off the phone with Hopworks and we've got a reservation for at least 10 folks, but we can expand that if we need to. If you can't make it or know of someone who can and hasn't replied, let me know so I can get an idea of a final count.

Thanks!

Hey Paul - if there's a good turn out and folks want to start up a regular meeting a-la Seattle style, I'll see what the preference is on days.
