Bare Metal Painting Question

My 930 needed repaint.
The body was originally galvanized. they are stripping to a bare metal.
Does it compromise the benefits of factory galvanizing? Will the car be more prone to rust?

the galvanized coating on the cars are more to protect the insides of panels and between the panel seams then the face of a body panel.
even with galvanized panels on cars today they will still rust in those places it just takes longer.
cars prior to being galvanized would rust out quicker but it's not like they would just end up as a pile of rust.
the galvanization of a porsche is nothing special and in fact no different then any other car.
what i never could understand is the worry of the porsche owners and the galvanized coating on them all auto makers about the same time porsche started to galvanize there cars there auto marker too started doing the same thing in the same way.

if you sand the bare metal you will take off the galvanized coating on the car. again this is the same for all cars even up to todays cars.
this is one reason why you use a epoxy or etch primer before you would use a filler primer. those two primers will give the protection back to the sanded and removed galvanized coating on the car.
they do have what is called a DTM or direct to metal primer/s this will not offer the same metal protection as a epoxy or etch primer under a filler primer. DTM primers are more for collision repair shops as it speeds up the repair process because you only need one primer to cover a repair area. needing only one primer also cuts repair costs to save shops money.
DTM primers are not the best for a restoration.
