metal filler
As a lead substitute I'm considering one of the various metal fillers. In the past I used the filler on bare metal and sprayed an epoxy primer over the filler. It seemed to lift

I have always used lead....not that hard to do, it is what Porsche used in a few spots, particularly those subject to some flexing and no risks.
Not hard to learn, materials are readily available and it is permanent. Dennis |

Yes, I've had this happen. REALLY annoying. I get it perfectly smooth, it looks fine with the primer too. Then i do the base coat and clear coats and it looks a joke. I suspect the thinners in the base coat, or clear coats, was reactivating the filler making it swell. Just a guess. |

Thanks for the replies. I have not used lead in a while, trying to avoid the sanding, etc. problems from lead. Maybe I'll just epoxy the bare metal and go with the bondo stuff over the epoxy. I like the idea of the all metal stuff but something isn't working right in my experience.
