porsche 911 Targa bar
Hi.
I have a 911 Targa from 1976 with black painted Targa bar, and I want it to be in polished metal look. Were all the factory painted Targa bars made of stainless steel ? and can the painting be removed for a polished look ? Thanks. Torsten |

Yes you can remove paint and polish, you can also give it a nice brushed look using flap wheels, followed by a clear coat. Cerakote either air or baked cure might be a good choice or ask Porsche 962 or your local jobber for a clear coat for your specific needs.

Hi DP,
I have spied a few 87-89 Targa's and while they are black, I did see one that was brushed stainless which looked quite good. Problem is how do you remove the paint without causing damage to the body finish. Is it possible to easily remove the Targa metal and then strip using a commercial stripper? Any pointers and tips for doing same would be appreciated. Keep safe and healthy. Best, Al Best, Al |

I need to do the bar as well, and my research had said to remove the bar. No sure how well those fasteners are going to cooperate though. I am trying to decide on black repaint or the polished stainless. If the latter, I would like polished fuch petals too.
