Help 962 Porsche I need your opinion
I can’t afford Glasurit anymore, it’s over $1500 a Gallon. I did my car in RM 759 and then used limco 800k. Any suggestions for a basecoat and clear that won’t break the bank. I also plan on using a sealer just not sure which one yet.

I only use products in the BASF product line.
yup glasurit is costly RM is slightly less cost with much of the products but still not cheap by any means. the lowest cost product would be Limco. in my old shop I had every line of BASF now in my small shop the I'm doing some restorations but mostly fabrications of chassis and roll cages I have the 55 line and the limco supreme plus lines. out of the two I use limco the most. with limco supreme plus it's pretty much equal to what came on your late 60's to early 80's Porsche , vw and such. so does it last ? yup !! is it user friendly ? yup! is it cost effective? yup! the downfall to the limco line isn't that the paint and under coats are no good it's that there color documentation isn't the best. unlike RM and Glasurit the limco line doesn't have color spray out chips to look at. so to check to see if a color is going to match your going to need to do your own spray out. limco also doesn't have lots of variances of of there color code formulas so if your spray out isn't spot on the mix may need to be tinted. this could be a problem for some but I 1st know how to tint a color to match it match and 2nd I have the mixing system in my shop to do so. making paints is pretty much all the same for all paints what tends to make a higher dollar paint cost more is all the time the manufacture puts into color documentation and TDS info. |
