Porsche 911 SWB floor pan replacement tips

Hi Guys,

My name is Stephan and I'm new on the forum. Well not really new I've been following the forum for the last few years as a ghost reader. But finally decided to make an account and asking for your help.

I acquired a couple of years ago a 911 SWB from 1967. And going to do a full restoration. The body just came back from water blasting. Im going to start with replacing the floor pans. I bought all the parts already from restoration design.

After following YouTube the forum and countless hits on google I'm still not sure what the best way is to remove the floor pan. Can I just drill out the spot weld through the entire body since I will throw away the bad part? And then I can use the hole in the good part to attach the new floor pan with a weld? And how many mm doest the drill bit has to be?

Or is there a better way? I see on restoration design that they made even holes in the new body panels??

All tips are welcome!

I wouldn't recommend drilling out or right thru all the spot welds. it will make a mess and after the new pans are in you could end up with lots of holes thru one half of the flange that you will have to deal with to stop moisture from getting in. use a spot weld cutter.
I ruff cut out the parts of the panels that are getting removed that don't have spot welds. this way you only have around the edges with the spot welds to deal with removing.
