UPOL Tinted Gravitex never dried ?

Hello all , I reviewed and followed many posts on here and decided to use Upol Gravitex and a Limco Beige mixed in to make an accurate P car Gastank color for my '72 ST build . The tank color is amazing ,it's a center fill , the whole 9 .. The issue is after more than 9 months dry time , the Upol never cured .. In fact it will indent and dirt/ paper will stick to it voraciously even today , its a bit of a nightmare actually , any dirt near it sticks to it , the texture comes off and smooths to the application of any solvent used to clean it . Now the car is finished , I would surely love to not remove and strip this tank , any ideas?????? thanks !!!!

there could be a number of reasons as to why the chip guard hasn't dried!
you could have used the wrong limco as there are a number of different ones and if you put the wrong one in that needs a hardener to make it dry it will not ever dry.
also you could have added to much color to the chip guard tinting it.
you could have also been applied to heavy or to many coats. this will also never or only dry to a tacky coat.

ahhh

962, rather than pulling the tank and stripping , can you recommend something I could mask off and shoot it with to make it dry to the touch ?

There is no such product. You’ll have to strip it off and start over. Why did you mix limco paint with it? That’s why it’s not drying.

If you want to have beige buy a bottle of raptor white bed liner and mix in some beige urethane tint.
Or follow the TDS for gravitex and then prime and paint over it. The upol raptor bed liner is similar to gravitex although it takes a hardener and can be tinted. Only difference the bed liner is a little harder than gravitex. You can buy urethane tint for the bed liner at tcp global, comes in a bottle see below.

sadly there is nothing you can spray over it to make it dry!
you could go the bed liner route on a fuel tank however it's not a good idea for doing floor pans.
it's not the fact you used limco to tint the chip guard the bad is if you used a limco line like a urethane that needs a hardener to make it dry or you added to much tint over 10% by volume.
if you want a beige you can buy 3M rocker Schutz 08874 this can also be tinted if your looking for a spot on match.
the same rules apply with the 3M that if you tint it and the tint/s you use need a hardener it will not dry. enamels do not need a hardener to dry so like the chip guards that do not need a hardener they can be mixed in.
