Proper way to finish engine bay
Hi,
I dropped the engine and looking to refinish the engine bay. Wondering if this is the correct process. 1. Clean and degrease 2. Wire wheel to remove the stone guard. 3. sand with 220 4 degrease and clean with? 5 Epoxy prime 6 Wurth stone guard 7 Black single stage Mat black (colour code and sheen?) thanks for the help |
I’m doing one right now this is how I did the entire bottom.
1. Used a pneumatic chisel which peels chip guard like a banana. 2. Finish up with wire knotted wheel. 3. Used 100 grit on an orbital to rough areas missed go over entire thing. 4. Clean with denatured alcohol or some pre paint cleaner 5. A coat of rm epoxy primer 2 is fine if you wish let flash between coats 6. Gravel guard or whatever product you use over epoxy within 24 hours 7. Follow tds sheet for topcoat et. |
Did the entire bottom in a couple hours thanks to the chisel.wire wheel is great too but I hate the toxic air and the mess.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654263528.jpg

If you buy black chipgaurd you don’t need to go over it, it is Matt black and you can vary sheen by adding black enamel according to 962 for chipgaurd recommends a primer if your going to paint over it. |
