Glasurit 55 line base coat application

I'll soon be ready to shoot the latest project. One thing I'm unsure of is whether I can or should sand or sand blemishes/peel out between coats of base. 1500 wet. Color is a medium blue metallic. First time using this system.

Not the last coat of base. Probably earlier coats don't matter.

with 55 line you can do a wet sanding to remove a blemish like a dust nibs and such.
if your getting orange peal in your base your really doing something totally wrong! and I mean really wrong!
I would avoid sanding your base needlessly as much as you can. once the wet sand slug dries and if it gets into any panel gaps it then will just be dust that as you spray your next coat will blow out ruining your next coat.
I'm guessing you know you can't sand your last coat of base before you go to clear coating. it will leave sanding marks.

Just what I needed to know. Didn't want to learn the hard way on this project. Planning to lay down three coats of base before building the clear.

Peal of course is gun setting and distance. Check sprays confirm the fan and deposition.

A funny thing was I'd do a test spray on an old filing cabinet and that would look better than the real thing. I figured out I was putting the base on too thick and wet. So like you say 3 coats of base, and nice and light.

if you do get a blemish in your last coat of base you can bid it out and just do a spot in that area with more base and blend the base out.

I know your question is about base but if you're planning on doing an extra coat of clear or two you will need to let it flash off longer than you may think between coats. this is to eliminate solvent popping or worse the clear delaminating a year or more down the road.
normally between coats you would touch the masking tape in a few areas to see how wet the clear is. normally when you touch the masking tape you want to leave a finger print in the wet clear on the taped area and have no clear coming off on your finger.
if your going to do 3 or 4 coats of clear you do the same finger test but you want to be able to press firmly on the tape to leave a finger print and not a light touch.
nothing is worse than finishing a job and it looks fantastic to come in the next day to see solvent popping.
