Our recommendation would be to find someone who had there car painted by a shop within the last 6 months and were happy with it. I was just told a story by a coworker about someone who took their 911 to "the best painter" in SoCal, spent $15k on the work and it came back terrible and needed to get completely stripped down again and repainted for another $10k by a different shop. Make sure you see some recent work. Just our 2 cents... Best of luck!

when looking for a shop i have gone over this countless times in the past .
1st off it's not just the painter a quality paint job starts right at the bare metal and continues thru out the job until you get the car back . to replicate the OE finish is not a hard thing to do . but sadly many shop color sand and buff the finishes until they are as flat as glass . they may look good but they are not right . so you have to find a shop that will work with you 1st in cost and then to the quality you are looking for . if your looking for supper high quality you have to have pretty much an open check book . the reason is the prep time going into a spray and do not touch it ( no color sanding ) finish . one piece of dust will ruin the hole panel . the difference between the factory painting a car and a shop is in the factory only the car is in the booth and if you look at the production lines of cars being painted they are not like a single car in a shop being painted . it's the workers in the shops that make for quality work not the nice guy in the office . workers can come and go from shops so a shop may have a good rep but they got it from the workers in the shop . if a worker leaves and they replace him the quality may also no longer be there at that shop . |

The guy that just gave you real good advice (962) would be a good one to start with.

You might want to visit John Esposito's shop in North Hollywood and check out his work, he was my choice.

You'll be looking for the Porsche factory painting robots...all kidding aside from the robots, my vote is Kevin Mentzer (KevinP73), but I don't know if he's still painting cars.

At the end the day - lots of very good paint and body guys and lots of very good resto shops. Find someone you trust - you'll be spending a lot of $$. As Mr 962 states most shops go way beyond the quality of a factory paint job.

Turbo you will have a long wait...I have been trying to get a car painted and rust removed for two years. Not a big job but they always pick to higher priced customer.

Best Painter
Personally know all of the "East Coast" shops/experts mentioned above; attached photos of 356 being rubbed out post paint @ Esposito Porsche speaks for itself; laser straight body, perfect panel gaps & black paint that looks 50' deep; this level of quality/perfection is why I chose John to paint my car. Unfortunately, this cell phone doesn't do the 356 justice.
