Porsche Crest Zymol "Atlantique" - Any good?

I received this as a gift a while back and wonder if it is worth the outrageous price they charge retail.

I have sold my 911 and do not need this fancy concours wax.

Anyone interested? Make me an offer. Len.Cummings at verizon.net

Well I was going to make an offer but after seeing the retail price I didn’t want to insult you. That’s an extravagant gift…

Out of curiosity how long have you had it?

I was going to say "$5" then "Ok, OK $10".

FAR OUT!

Maybe put it on eBay with a reserve of $1,000.00

Mosses sandals!
That’s a nice nice box. But, for that price I’m thinking they should include some lube

Holy crap!!! For those with money to burn. I see ZZ Top on their website certainly not in stride with Just Got Paid.

All kidding aside, anyone want to make a serious offer?

I will donate 1/2 proceeds to NH Food Bank.

OK, $100 plus fees & shipping and $50 will go to the NH Food bank.

All I ask is that you give me feedback to its results.

Cannot believe they were getting over $1,000 for this.

Len,

Not sure if you got my last email but I’ll take it if you still have it.

I promised Len a review of the product after I’ve had a chance to use it. Curiosity got the better of me today and I decided to apply some to a small spot on the rear of my Spyder. What was going to be a quick test resulted in a full wax of the entire car . So here’s my review as promised…..

Some Context First….
Car is a 2011 Boxster Spyder in Basalt Black with 21k miles on it. I’ve had it since new and it’s been very lightly polished twice in its life with the last polish about 2.5 years ago. My fun cars generally don’t see much “weather” nor do they sit outside extensively so I would call this one pampered. With that being said, Carnauba wax is plenty of protection to prevent bug and bird poop damage since none stay on the paint for more than 18 hours. Historically I have used Pinnacle Souveran and Zymol Glasur, both of which are excellent products with incredible finishes.

Application
This is a very hard wax but oddly enough it applies very easily. It goes on as a very thin layer, thinner than any other product I’ve ever used. It also comes off very easily with minimal residue left behind. It does however seem to build on the clear bra edges easier than other products so you have to pay more attention when applying near and edge.

Results….
As we all know, 95% of a cars appearance is the polishing step or foundation for which a final finishing product is applied. So my paint was excellent to start with but it’s pretty hard to deny that this wax provides clarity and depth that I have never seen in any other product. The metallic flake in the basalt really shows through as well. The gloss also seems to improve as the wax sets up. Overall I’m very pleased with the results and the purchase. This tub will likely last me at least 10 years if not more as I’ll only be using it on my Porsche’s.

Is it worth $1500…..definitely not! But if you can get your hands on some for less than $200 and you’re at a level of detailing your cars that every small improvement pleases you then I’d say go for it.

Thanks again, Len for an easy transaction. Some pics of the results. I’ll try to add some when I get the car out of the garage next time too.

Marine Blue..

You forgot to mention how good it smells! Keep it away from young kids and pets as surely, they may attempt a taste! Additionally, if I'm not mistaken, the original instructions suggested that you apply by hand.. literally, no rage or pad.

Nice results!

Yes it does smell good and I could totally see one of my dogs trying to get into it!

As far as application, I did initially try hand application but I find this approach is a bit wasteful so I tried a side by side comparison with a foam applicator pad and the results were the same clear reflective and glossy finish. I finished the car with the foam applicator and was pleased with the overall uniformity of the finish using this approach. I made a similar observation with the Zymol Glasur the first time I used it.

I applied the Atlantique to one or two panels at a time and then removed it using a high quality microfiber cloth.

Here’s a great reflection shot of the back panel, again the clarity and reflective qualities are impressive.

Marine, that looks fantastic. I apologise most profusely and take back every mean word I've ever said about Zymol Atlantique.

Lol Bill

So what I’m finding interesting is that the Atlantique doesn’t have the same impact on my Marine Blue 964. I’m not sure if this is due to the paint type or color but it definitely doesn’t have the same level of pop or smooth finish as on my Spyders paint. It looks amazing on black though!

It does create a nice non stick surface and does a good job of preventing etching from bugs but perhaps not to the same level as the modern ceramic based products.

Hey Len. Same deal? I’ll take it. If it smells as good as the original Zymol, we may just use it in the bedroom!
Thanks,
Tony

Been offered $200, but since EVERYTHING has gone up in price, how does $250 plus FedEx shipping sound?

Sorry, but do not have PayPal. Personal check is acceptable.
