New trick using shoe polish

Anyone who saw my car as it was when I got it knows the front trunk was painted over. Everything, wires, hoses, the works, in red. (Car was originally green.) It has taken me hours upon hours to rip out all the heating and ventilation stuff and replace it. And to paint over the red that was everywhere else. I think the painter must have used an airless or something. Not one thing was masked, just the trunk seal was removed.

Well, I really didn't want to remove the wiring harness, which was, of course, red. So, I tried cleaning the paint off the sheathing with various substances from hand cleaner all the way to MEK. It was not going to get the job done very well or I was gonna die if I kept it up with the MEK.

So, I got some liquid black shoe polish in a applicator bottle. The stuff is actually water clean up, which I don't understand. Now, I haven't tried it on any shoes, but it looks wonderful on the wiring loom.

There you go, trick of the month.
