Bringing out the lurkers!
Fantastic, a forum right in time. THANKS Wayne!!!
The 76 911s 2.7 is almost down to bear metal. I've got a couple issues... First of all I found the post with the beginings of how to fix the broken studs on the rear reflector, but there is no completed job. Any way I have some ideas about how to fix this, but I thought I'd throw it out. Another question I have relates to the the door handles and mirror(s) removal. Any tips, advice or threads you could point me to would be great. For some strange reason I feel like I owe this post, sometimes the guilt of a lurker is unbearable. Thanks everyone, I'll throw in a teaser about the car itself.![]()

Robs76, The doors are actually pretty simple once you get into them. The flag mirrors have an allen head on them which releases a hasp and they lift out. The window frames are held in with several allen head bolts hiding underneath the little plastic covers on the front and rear of the door. The striker plates on the door jambs are a little more tricky and require a 12point socket (just happens to be the same size as an early 70's 2 liter ford head bolt) I'll look around for readily accessible parts in the garage tomorrow and take some pics for you so you see what the parts look like removed.
Keep up the hard work...your strip job looks nice. Helmethead |

Thanks for the insight and kind words. You know I'm getting down to it with the stripping of the car and I plan to have a pro do the painting. These cars never cease to amaze. I've been reading this and other web site for over 2 years and have never seen one word on the Al (it is Al isn't it?)bumpers. Is there anything I should know about painting Al so I can tell if the pro knows his stuff?
Thanks, Rob |
