powder coating window trim

Hi,

Has anyone powder coated window trim and windshield trim (the part that fits in the gasket)? This seems like a good idea while its off the car.

Thanks,
V.

It is a good idea to do it now, but be very careful with the window trim, the heat from the coaters is gonna make it warp.

We do that to all the cars that march through our shop.

Powder coat can also be quite a few thou thick, up to say 30 thou in some cases.

I would have it anodized as it will cost the same (or less) and the prep is identical....

Cheers

Every city/town should have one or more anodizing business. I have 3 within 15 miles of where I live. I guess it fades a little, the ones that were black on our cars were originally anodized.

Cheers

I did the powder coat thing.....it does make clearances a bit tighter, but I did not have any problems.

It is now 13 years and the trim is as black as it has ever been....

Trim Ring

Can you get the trim ring in the groove after the window has been installed?

I installed the window and rubber without the trim ring installed.

Thanks

Jon

Jon: as far a I know no one has been able to put the trim in while the window is in place, however, my glass man told me that he saw a guy using a tool to do that, needles to say, I want to get my mitts on it.

I've recently had this done to the drivers door window trim and the trim on the quarter window. No problems at tall.
