I was just quoted $1400- to rechrome my swb window frames. Last year I paid half that on another car. Any recomendations in southern cal. aside from Orange County plating (Will only chrome items), South Bay Chrome(Gave the quote at hand), Any in San Diego, Arizona, . . . . Mexico? Thanks

Orange County will only chrome newly manufactured items.

Faith Plating has been around forever and has a good rep last time I heard .... also Astro Plating in Van Nuys does good work.

Chrome

I would use Pacific plating in San Diego. I"think" they are on Pacific, right next to I-5 at about the Rosecrans exit. Retail store in San Diego, operations in Mexico(he owns both sides). Does EXCELLENT work, have had Porsche, 55 Chevy, and antique stove work - ALL wonderful and virtually perfect

Maybe the swb cars were chromed, but my 70 911T has annodized aluminum frames. Someone in the past scuffed mine up to paint. I'm in the process of undoing all of that. I stripped paint, removed the anodize with oven cleaner and currently polishing them... looking good so far.

This might not help you, but there is actually a new chrome plating shop that has opened here. I have not been there to check on things yet, but I will. I used to have to drive 200 miles to get to a plater.

plating and polishing

Yes, my 70 was the same and Pacific also does the polishing. In fact, for the 55 Chev. they took the pot metal pieces, fixed them, copper plated, and then chromed them. He did an absolutely wonderful job on the grill-disassembled the whole thing, straightened each piece and then polished and reassembled.
