Re-Chromes Door Handles

Thought you guys would like to see my re-chromed or actually newly chrome handles. They were original black.





I'm taking a 70 911T from updated black to the shiny mode with new PPG black base coat / clear coat. The H4 headlight rings are in for new plate now.

Where in Houston did you have these chromed? I want to send the handles from my '70T out to be re-done.

I had the mdone at Atlas Plating, www.atlaschrome.com, but there are several places in the phone book or on the web that can do this.

Did they have pitting before the chroming or were they in good shape? My triggers have pitting and have been painted black, I'm curious how bad they have to be before they are junk.

The handles above were OEM Black, but after I stripped them with paint remover, I found that they showed where they were already coated with copper then nickel. In the three part, "triple" plating process, those are the first two steps. So my guess is Porsche did this on all and then either chromed them or painted depaending on options requested.

Mine were in good shape, but the shop had me disasemble them. Not hard. Took about 3-4 weeks, it's a small shop and cost $45 ea. That seems to be a pretty standard price as I called around and checked websites.

I'm getting mu H4 headlight rings done now and will post a pic when I get them back.

PS: the pictures really don't do them justice, they are absolutely smooth with no scatches or blemishes.

Just got these back yesterday. They were primered black, but I wanted chrome. $40 ea so it was cheaper than buying new headlights.
