Self Etching Primer

Spray before or after doing any body filler?

Robert - Most professionals will recommend filler on bare metal... for us amateurs it is easier to do over primer, since we take longer.

The etch primer says it should be sprayed over within 16 hours for best adhesion so I will go with the filler on bare metal. I was more worred that filler had to be second as the primer would react with it when sprayed. And I can't see how I could possibily finish the filler work that quickly, unless I didn't sleep ;)

I had the same question and asked my paint supplier (I'm using PPG). He indicated a similar opinion as the previous message. Most professionals insist on putting filler on bare metal, but PPG says that it will stick fine to their epoxy primer. In my situation, I ended up doing my body work first and spraying over it with epoxy. If you do end up putting the filler over the epoxy primer, make sure you just scuff it up a bit before applying the filler.
