As you can see, the battery tray is a bit grotty. I'm wondering if Porsche made the battery tray seperate from the rest of the body (ie. Repair = simple swap) or if it was integrated into the front suspension pans. If that's the case, are there any after market pieces or kits?

The reason I don't really want to replace the whole panel, besides all the work that that would entail for my old man (who does some welding), is that this is really where the rust is contained. We've thoroughly checked the rest of the panel for rust and have found only a bit more directly underneath. In terms of all the structure, the rust is very well contained and limited...

cheers,

Ian

If your against a new panel you will need to treat the rusted area and add some support. Looks like your missing the battery bracket also.

Austin, thanks for the idea. Can you give me a picture or two of the battery tray and maybe where I can get it?
Also, how do you recommend we add in some support?

Thanks again!

Ian

There is a bracket in the back of the tray which the batterys edge slides under(pic 1). Then the adjustable bracket(pic 2) slides over the batterys other edge. You can find a battery box somewhere and find a way to mount the base of the box to your tray.
